The ‘War 2’ teaser might have tantalized the taste buds of many espionage fans. But a section of film buffs are lamenting that Jr NTR has no standout moments and failed to make a lasting impression.
The makers of ‘War 2’ dropped the teaser on Tuesday morning marking NTR’s birthday. But the joy seemed to have short lived for many of his fans as they took to social media complaining against his role in the film.
Ever since the film launched, there has been a massive buzz around it, especially about how Jr NTR will be portrayed, fans assumed that the Spy universe film will put NTR to a notch higher after the success of ‘RRR’. But contrary to the expectations, ‘War 2’ teaser served more blandness than what fans presumed.
The teaser certainly promised some high-stake action and dramatic sequences that one can get to see in any spy thriller. But fans looked dejected over NTR’s entry in the story. NTR displayed no emotion making it hard for audiences to connect with, fans felt. This generic and cliched look of the ‘RRR’ star made other face-off frames with Hrithik emotionally flat. This has given an edge to Hrithik for his macho-dominant fierce look.
It may be recalled that NTR’s leaked pictures from the sets of ‘War 2’ highlighted how intense the actor had been working out for the film. Everyone thought that he would dominate his co-star Hrithik in the film. Even Hrithik’s tweet before the actor’s birthday suggested that NTR would get proper elevation in terms of strong character arc and depth in ‘War 2’.
Many assumed that the War 2 teaser would be a befitting birthday treat for the actor. Even other production houses gave way to ‘War 2’ in order to bring proper mileage to the actor’s Bollywood debut. But in the end, it proved to be a dampener as fans were unsatisfied with his not-so-convincing portrayal. The actor also came under criticism for his short-haired look in the film. Of all the three shots in the teaser, Hrithik seemed impactful and engaging due to his timing, nuance and expressions. But Tarak looked lackluster. This has hurt his fans badly.
However, fans are optimistic that makers would look into it and make proper changes so that the same doesn’t reflect in the final output. ‘War 2’ will hit theatres worldwide on August 14, this year in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages. The film marks NTR’s Bollywood debut.
