Rajasthan Royals (RR) head coach Rahul Dravid criticised the bowlers for their poor performance in the ongoing IPL 2025. The team is out of the (Indian Premier League) after a dreadful show throughout the season. The head coach placed the blame on the bowlers, as they were hammered in most of the matches, which made the batters’ job tougher.
So far, RR have won just three out of 12 matches and are in the second-last position in the points table. Despite having some quality batters, RR failed to win most of their matches, which was disappointing.
The young openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi played well in some matches, but a little bit of support from the middle-order batters could have taken the team towards victory. Dravid also mentioned that they would look into the issues they faced this year and come back stronger next season.
“If we look at the statistics of the entire season, we haven’t been able to do well in bowling, neither in taking wickets nor in controlling the runs. We are chasing in nine out of 10 matches, and every time the target is 200-210-220. Even then, our openers are giving us a good start, but we aren’t able to finish the run chase. So we have to work on these things next season, on the bowling, even in the fielding, where we are missing catches,” Dravid was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

That’s the nature of the game: Rahul Dravid
Furthermore, praised the batters and their efforts in the tournament as they played some quality cricket. RR did get some good starts, and some of the players chipped in as well. The head coach mentioned the efforts of Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel during the interview.
“To be fair, all of them had good performances through the season. It’s not that they didn’t. Riyan played some very good knocks, Dhruv we saw today played a terrific knock, probably Hettie at the back end maybe missed out this season, which was a bit tough on us, but that can happen. I mean that’s the game. That’s the nature of the game,” Dravid concluded.
