The moment is finally here — Shah Rukh Khan just made his Met Gala debut. The actor made history in an all-black suit comprising high-waisted trousers, a black shirt, and a tailcoat by designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Adding a touch of bling to his look, Shah Rukh wore layered jewellery — among which was an oversized ‘K pendant — a possible reference to being ‘King Khan’. He was also seen carrying a dandy cane with a tiger scepter, and wore a pair of sunglasses on the red carpet.
Last year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that the Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” will be on display from May 10 to October 26, 2025. In line with the theme, this year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” is a nod to Dandyism – a stereotype-bending menswear style and code of conduct prevalent in Black culture during the 18th and 19th centuries, defined by tailored outfits and elegant and refined silhouettes.
