Actor Prakash Raj is known for speaking his mind on various political issues. His outspoken nature often lands him in controversy. Now, he has stirred yet another debate by calling out Bollywood celebrities for staying silent on political matters. He emphasized that the film industry should not remain quiet and must have the courage to speak up, especially when freedom of expression is under threat.
In a recent interview, Prakash Raj said that half of his industry colleagues are sold out, and the other half are afraid to speak because they lack the strength. Recalling a personal incident, he shared how one of his friends once told him, “You have the strength to speak, but not everyone does.”
“I told him I understand his situation, but I cannot forgive him. Because in the future, when history is written, those who committed crimes will be forgiven—but not those who stayed silent,” Prakash Raj stated.
He stressed that filmmakers and artists must raise their voices when the government tries to suppress dissent. According to him, powerful regimes aim to silence discussions, but it is the responsibility of creators to ensure their voices are heard.
Prakash Raj also commented on the recent ban of the film Abir Gulaal, which features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, following the Pahalgam attack. He asserted that no film should be banned, whether it carries a political message or not. “Unless a film promotes something heinous like child abuse or pornography, it should not be banned,” he added.
His bold statements have gone viral on social media, sparking heated debates among netizens.
